On Saturday, Nick and I traveled out of Winston-Salem to the Yadkin Valley to do some wine tasting. This appellation is actually just about 20 or 25 minutes away, but it was a nice treat and really felt like we got away. Nicholas had never been to a vineyard before so this was a fun new experience. And the Yadkin Valley actually has about 15 different vineyards, which is quite a bit for such a small area. We visited RayLen winery, which was lovely, and tasted about 10 or 12 wines. You can check out their website for some nice pics and more info about their wines. Our favorites were the Viognier and the Category 5, which is a blend of cab, merlot and a few other things. The young ladies that helped us were so nice and one of them actually works as a research assistant in the Radiology Department at Wake. She gave us a bunch of info about good local restaurants and places to go hiking and whatnot. Here are a few pics from our outing.
