...worth while. As many of you know, this born and bred New Yorker has always had a bit of a southern bent, and for those of you that know anything about NASCAR, you'll appreciate the fact that I got to take care of a famous driver who unfortunately can't be named because of HIPPA (confidentiality) issues. It's the little things, I guess. Otherwise it was a pretty busy night with a bunch of traumas coming in to the ED with multiple orthopedic injuries. Some were taken urgently to the OR, and others were just splinted/stabilized because they had other more significant injuries that required attention by the trauma service. All in all the night went by fairly quickly, and I was able to grab about an hour of sleep between 4-5. I was hoping for a slow post call day on Monday, but alas, it was super busy as per usual. I think I saw/worked up 6 consults before I left around 1 pm. At least it was some interesting stuff, including a kiddo who dislocated his hip wake boarding, and a gal who managed to both dislocate her should and break her upper arm in 4 or 5 places in a car accident (note to self, don't smoke marijuana and drive and always wear your seatbelt). Now that was interesting trying to get everything back together. It's pretty weird that I've already been on the service for almost half the month. It's actually gone by pretty quickly and I do feel like I'm learning a bunch of stuff that is relevant to EM.
